I485 submitted in NSC 2nd July. Receipt date 9th Aug.
Working for same employer for last 5 years.
Had lud updates twice in last 5 days. (Also recently did a A11 online (address change for me and my family).

That is right, no need to file I-485 again. The format of I-485 has nothing to do with this. I am assuming he is just trying to make money by doing the additional paper work. A couple of my colleagues got their GCs that way in July and my employer is also in the process of filing my EB-2 I-140 under Premium Processing this week with a request to port my earlier EB-3 PD and a letter to USCIS requesting to adjudicate my pending I-485 under EB-2 preference, once EB-2 I-140 is approved. In my colleague's case, TSC approved both Eb-2 I-140 and pending I-485 (was at TSC as well) concurrently in July.
Final Q, how long it took from day1 of EB2 filing to filing I140 this week ?

Can someone explain to me, why should we call USCIS and inquire about receipt notices just weeks after filing AOS application when USCIS clearly states that it takes 30 days to process a receipt. Can we at least respect that piece of information and wait for 30 days before calling?
Did I get that 30 day receipt processing period wrong?

I agree that "It is an irony that most people here who raised valid concerns have "red" reputation". I don't know how it works. I know it doesn't matter but I just added +ve reputaton for ck_b2001 and Lisap.
Anyways, I think the moderators should not forget that this is an open forum also. And it has become popular because of people like us. As of now I am using this site as a forum where I get some info/experience from people like me regardng GC. Its an important thing (to get GC) and a painful process. May be thats why this site/forum has got so many serious members, spending time and sharing their so much personal information.
But to me (its just me), GC is important but not a life/death thing and there are lot of other things which are more important to me other than getting GC. Frankly speaking, I will spend time and money in those other things at this time. May be sometime later when I will be more comfotable and have more exp. with persons here, I might participate actively here too. And I believe lot of others might have similar thoughts.
My point here is that:
1. This is an open forum (like immigrationportal etc.) to discuss/share views/exp about GC process. So let it be like that only. If its not, then I will ask moderators to "please close this open forum".

I think we, in this forum, should get more mature in handling others personnel issues. The reason I was against that "snathan" story was that we are trying to play goody goody for no reason. All i can say for you is angoor khatte hain(grapes are sour for you) since you didnt get it.
This is what happens to jealous people.
Anyways, we have played by the rules.
What do you say about people getting GC by lottery.
Go and blame the govt for the rules not us.
I don't care about LS. Almost all cases I know are fraud. Sometimes 2 guys got GCs on same labor(since they were not asking Original LC). Thank god USCIS banned LS.

According to the 2005 memorandum, it was possible to change employers even if the 140 was not approved. But it was clear that an RFE that was not responded to, would deny everything.
Now it appears, they would require an approved 140.

Call your senator and explain your situation. I have done so in the past after I lost all papers. I have received drivers license on the basis of only photo copies.
Thanx for your suggestion.. DMV agreed after going up several managers to move the status check date 6 months away for me and my wife. I am planning to renew EAD and use that next time.. the stupidity will be paying the huge EAD fee for my wife just for driver license purpose even though she's not planning to work any time soon.

The companies the senators sent letters to were Infosys Technologies, Wipro Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Patni Computer Systems, I-Flex Solutions Inc., Satyam Computer Services Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd., Tech Mahindra Americas Inc. and Mphasis Corp.
It is actually good. There are abuses in H1B program, some of these companies apply for mass H1B's before the quota is complete. They apply for H1B's even if there is no current requirement. Once the H1B is approved, they will send the employee when there is a requirement and that too for some specific time. This is abuse - genuine companies who go by rules have a lengthy procedure to fill a position: open a req/interview people/if the candidate need a h1 then they will file. By this time all H1's are over. These companies are worse than desi body shops - atleast some of smaller body shops apply for green card; but this big name IT oursourcers named by senators dont apply for greencards (there might very very few exceptions).

If you join as a PM somewhere ...you need to be aware of things line earned value, risk register, critical path, management reserves, contract change control system, stages of team formation, types of Org..etc..etc..which is common terminology for PM's..so unless you want to join as a PM and blink you want to get certified..
Most manager jobs require this certification ...like you would go to a dentist to deal with problems with your teeth...not that a general physican cant do it..but a dentist specailises in teeth care..just like it PM is a separate proffession..I have seen MBA getting PMP ceritified..
For a Reason ..among all the certs ...this is the 1st or the 2nd most sought after..in the world..

either missed BEC by luck (pre-PERM folks) or used substitute labor. They all have GCs.
And there are people like me, still waiting waiting waiting.
It is not fair on people whose labor went into BEC and others filed PERM, got approved faster - have EADs/FP.

I do see your point about the unfairness of allowing the old PD. In that case, what do you say about the cross-chargeability provision ? I guess the percentage of people availing of that provision is small, but it does happen.
For example, If you're from India and in EB3, but your spouse was born in a non-retrogressed country, you automatically jump to the earlier PD in your category, EB3-World in this case. Maybe the percentage of such cases is low, and hence there're no protests from the people waiting. I personally know of one colleague who had a later PD than me, but got the EB3-World PD since his spouse was born in Zambia. If EB3-World was current, he'd be green simply because his spouse was born in the "right" country.

My point is that getting an older PD in both cross category and cross chargeability are allowed today and people will continue to avail of them is they can. As long as the USCIS doesn't have issues with that, applicants will attempt to migrate between categories and countries, during their im-migration process :) Couldn't help myself with that pun there :)
