Just signing and sending the last page in the 485 which doesnt have much Data .you can save a lot of time. You can verify online the data entry work done by the para-leagl and you are good to go and save couple of days ..i moved to a small firm ( from a over priced attorney ) and he was quite good. My forms are ready to pickup by Fedex in the evening from Attorney's office
Well you have a option to hire your own attorney and get things done the way you like.... But, In my case, like many other I have to get my paper work done by the immigration attorney's part of my company in-house legal department and they are pretty good at getting things done, but not at the time farme you want to get things done.
In my case all the documents must be sitting at my attorney's desk with all the requried docs, etc.. They just need to attach the employment letter, checks and review/ship it... But have no clue when this will be done. Hope it is within the first week. Just got one email that they understand the urgenecy and will do at the earliest. No other updates.

My wife is planning to convert from H4 to H1 for dentist.
1) Does she need a dental license to apply for H1 ?
She 'qualifies' for a dental license (ie meets all requirements), but almost all states require a SSN to issue a dental license. Since she is on H4, she doesnt have a SSN. Problem: Dental License needs SSN - SSN needs H1 - H1 needs license - basically a "Catch 22" position here

H1-B is all sponser based. You just can't go to USCIS and say that give my wife H1-B. You need an employer who is willing to hire her, show how much he is willing to pay and many more things. You say for a license she needs SSN, so there is your answer

yes you can. As per AC 21 once you have counted towards h1b number in last 6 year you are not counted again. So assuming your original h1 wasn't though non profit orgainzation, you can apply for new h1. If you have your I 140 approved you get 3 years h1. PM me if you need more info. I have done it.
and btw, h1b premium processing takes 15 days, so don't panic.

I called the USCIS customer service and was given the receipt numbers for 485,EAD and AP.The application was put in the system on Sep 8th, Saturday. Checks havent been cashed yet.
Check my signature for the details. USCIS seems to be working overtime.

Just like the the department of Homeland Security has USCIS to make sure that only very few highly-skilled immigrants get visas (thus causing the USRBD), they should also have the "Agency for USRBD" to counter the damage caused by USCIS. Don't let the RBD suck you in like it threatens to suck Ranga in! Let's go make our voices heard in DC!!

EAD is not required for invoking AC-21. If your lawyer says so, then go for second opinion.
His lawyer was right. If he has H1 he can do H1 transfer to another employer and invoke AC21 to continue AOS.

This action simply contradicts the entry on visa waiver. This allows people to visit (ONLY) with no intention of staying.
Coming in before you know your L visa is going to be coming is fraudulent.
If this individual wishes to leave the US they will have to get the L visa stamped in their passport before they can return. Might be asked why they did not get this done to enter the country for their job in the first place.
Have to say this person is going to need some assistance at some point to explain this away.

You should be thankful you are even able to file for 485. There are so many of us here who have waited 4+ YEARS (and still waiting) for just their labor cerification from BECs. Even assuming they get their I-140 approved overnight, they need to wait another 3-4 YEARS before they can even FILE 485. So compared to that 4-5 months processing time to approve I-140 is a rounding error .. dont mean to defend USCIS or trivialize your problem, just giving you some perspective of in the larger context of this huge EB mess.
I am really shocked to hear that. Why is it taking 4+ years to get a labor certification? I thought the PERM system solved this problem; I, of course, don't know much because my labor was approved via SHLC, and that takes 6 months.
Is this included in our demands? I mean the ability to file for 485 even when labor is not approved? Sounds like it should be.

I got the same message for my I-485 application. I called the customer service representative and she transfered me to Immigration Officer. The Immigration Officer is so kind. He told me that there are two different systems in USCIS , one in mainframe system and another is DB2 System. My case is on Mainframes system so it will get transfered to DB2 System as they have few problems in updating.
I too got my receipt numbers 8 weeks back, but still i am getting the same message.

There is no limit on the amount of money that a person can bring in. However if a person is carrying $10 k (this includes cash, travellers check, bank draft etc) or >5k in cash then that has to be declared at customs and person should go through Red Channel.
Are there any fees that has to be paid when the amount is declared? And is this for visitors only?

First of all this has got nothing to do with with your immigration issue. Next, the Iranian President has said that Israel should not exist and even denied the holocaust. With their nuclear program underway and talks going on, it was being thought that a more moderate leader will come to helm. Apparently it is now being believed that the elections were rigged. With a moderate leader, it is quite possible that talks may begin and an imminent Israel-Iran war be averted. How can 11 million votes be rigged? If they are counted fast in a few hours, yes they can be rigged.
Every country has issues that their population follows. Its no different than any issue that is followed in Indian media. When one issue dies down, another is brought in forefront. Why are you even surprised?
Well, If Mahmoud Ahmedinejad is referring to genocide then he needs to be condemned and if people have chosen him then there needs to be international pressure on iran to change its policies. However, this election is about choice by Iranian people and their genuine will should be respected. Everyone knows that west hates current dispensation in Iran but best thing to do is not to poke nose in other's affairs. This is something west does often and world despises.
The truth will ultimately come out. But is best left to Iranian people. The moment west sniffs an opening they are all for regime change where they dont like regime. They havent leanrt to live with and respect choices of people where it does not match their agenda.
Past elections have been rigged in India , US , everywhere, so there is nothing new in this. Those who have the power will want to retain it.

If the doctor's office can give you claim codes, fine. Otherwise, you gotta do it yourself. Just submit the invoice copies with a good cover letter (explaining what it is). I did it with my insurance company and it went through smoothly. They treated our immigration medical exams as usual annual physical exams which are fully covered. Immunizations (i.e., vaccinations) are fully covered as well.

This question put me to shame. We are trying to become US citizens and we do not even know Havaii is a US state.
I am not sure what purpose do we serve by being rude to somebody on the forum. People might not be as savvy about immigration as some of the regulars here and it never hurts to ask.
From my owen experience, I went to Puerto Rico and everybody told me you dont need a passport to go there. While boarding the plane back from PR, a couple of CBP guys acame and started asking everybodies citzenship and then asked me to show them the visa. So it never hurts to be safe, even when u are travelling to a remote state or territory.
I am not sure what purpose do we serve by being rude to somebody on the forum. People might not be as savvy about immigration as some of the regulars here and it never hurts to ask.

What I want to say to you is, don't just sit here complaining. Do something! There are many other threads with advice as to what might be relevant to your case. Look around for CADude's posts. His information is very useful. I also posted my own experiences and solutions.
Read everything. Find out exactly what the hell is going on. Figure out all the factors. Understand the situation. An old movie had the saying "Chance favors the prepared mind." It's true.
I pray you will get out of this rut asap.
