I am from Ohio and tried several times to join State Chapter. I did get PM from a member last week who asked me to get him my personal info, which I did but no rsponse from him..
Can you suggest a link how can I join SC?

I spoke with Uday, he has enrolled you as a State Chapter Member. There is a google/yahoo grp that each chapter leader maintains. You can directly contact Uday if you have any suggestions or he will contact you when there is any action item and the members of Ohio are participating. I filed my 485 in June 2007 in Nebraska and yesterday my LUD changed but there was no message. This is the first change in my LUD since my finger printing in July 2007. I am EB3-I with PD of Dec 2002. Not sure what got updated. Any ideas???

2. His wife CAN work, as article mentions that he applied for GC in 2004
3. I never heard about 1 million - I guess we were talking about 140000 unused visas right? Where this 1 million came from?
4. If the company is bought - one doesn't generally reapply for GC.
Even little lies don't serve a good cause as this article can be easily discredited.

I agree ..provided they have done thier BS in US university ..i know 80 % of the indian students ( leave IITs/IIMs) will do MS because they either didn't get any job in india or admission to higher degree program
I dont know about other members but it is hard for me to blv that IIT's and IIM's will come to US for a masters degree coz they could not find a job in India or they could not get an admit in a master's program.
If that was the case people would have stopped going got IIT's/IIM's. Why will someone work so hard to get to the top most program - to not get a job and then pursue MS from US OF A????

Without knowing the situation of all the students, it is not fair to jump into conclusions. I am sure at least a few if not all the students, left India and come here with an intention to cheat. Some of them may not have known the true intent or authenticity of this university. From their standpoint it could just be they have gotten into a recognized univeristy in the US and this was going to be a gateway to a bright future. USCIS should only have themselves to blame before blaming the students for issuing I-20s, CPTs and OPTs. If the students came here on valid I-20s and are doing all the right things by going to class, why blame them. Again there could be students who are taking advantage of the system and doing the wrong things but there is blame everywhere.
All of us come here with dreams, dont we. Sometimes the dreams turn into nightmares and when it does we dont have to go out of our way to support the students in distress but the least we could do is stay away from adding to their woes. This is not a time to play smart Alec.

I think Meera Shankar needs to be fired. Its bloody 2010 and this is the kind of customer service the indian consulates provide - they dont pick up calls - it takes them a month to issue new passports - Always feel ashamed to be an indian any time I have to deal with these useless consulates.
The Houston consulate does not even have their address properly listed on their website.

So what is the correct address ?? Is it 1990 Post Oak Blvd or 3 Post Oak Central ?? Bunch of freaking idiots is what we have in all these US consulates.

We will know the veracity of their actions as more people report of their NC getting cleared over the next few months.
I think (1) in the statement made by USCIS refers to "DHS Secretary Chertoff indicated that USCIS and the FBI are changing parts of the name check process, with the expected result that a large proportion of the backlog should be cleared within six months" source: AILA Infonet
